Fines
Why do I have to pay fines when I'm returning things, and why are fines
so high?
We charge overdue fines to encourage the prompt return of borrowed items. For the fine to
be effective, we believe it must be substantial. Our fines match those of other libraries
in our area.
Why does the library send out bills when the fine is less than the postage it takes
to mail the notice?
Many customers want to know if they owe us any fines, no matter how small. The majority of
the notices sent out, however, are for more than the cost of the postage.
What if I can return the items but don't have the money to pay the fine
that day?
When you return the material your fines are frozen and are noted on your record.
