Library Cards

May I use the card I got at the Moorer/Springhill Branch at any other library?
Your card is good at any MPL locations.

I thought my library card was good for life. Why do you have to renew it each year?
Your card is good for life. However, your registration information is updated annually. If you live outside Mobile County or move away, you are charged an annual nonresident fee.

Can I send my card with my spouse or my child to get my stuff?
No, to protect your privacy, and because you are responsible for all items borrowed on your card, we restrict a card's use to its owner.

Why do you need proof of my street address? And, what is proper ID?
Your street address is required because it validates your residency whereas a post office box does not. A driver's license or military ID are the preferred forms of identification.
